Apple & Cheese Dog Biscuits

Updated: Nov 8, 2022

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups barley flour (If grinding your own flour, make sure it is fine)

  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oatmeal

  • 1/3 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 3 tbsp. olive oil

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place parchment paper on 2 large cookie sheets.

  2. Combine barley flour, old-fashioned oatmeal, cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, applesauce and olive oil in a large mixing bowl. Add 6-8 tbsp. water to help form the dough.

  3. Roll the dough with a rolling pin until it is 1/4-inch thick.

  4. Use a small round shaped cookie cutter to cut out the shapes. Use the scraps to re-roll more dough and cut more shapes.

  5. Place the biscuits about an inch apart on the baking sheets, and bake for 15-20 minutes, until firm and browned on the bottom.

  6. Cool the biscuits on a wire rack inside the cool oven overnight. Transfer them to an airtight container and store for up to 2 weeks.

Makes about 40 round dog treats.
