Ingredients:
6 to 7 cups thinly sliced peeled apples. (I use Granny Smith & Macintosh)
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice.
Your favorite pie crust recipe! (I use my Nana’s form in the pie plate recipe – no rolling out necessary)
Directions:
In a small bowl, combine the sugar, flour, and spices; set aside. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Add the sugar mixture; toss to coat.
Line a 9-in. pie plate with bottom crust. Fill with the apple mixture. Place the cut-out pieces of the crust on top.
Place foil over the edges of the pie crust. (to prevent getting too browned)
Bake at 375° for 25 minutes (then remove foil) and bake an additional 20-25 minutes until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Cool on a wire rack.
