How does stress affect your body you ask?
Indeed, stress symptoms can affect your body, your thoughts and feelings, and your behavior. Being able to recognize common stress symptoms can help you manage them. Stress that's left unchecked can contribute to many health problems, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, and diabetes.
Who wants that? I sure don’t!
What organs are affected by stress?
Your Musculoskeletal system. When the body is stressed, muscles tense up.
Your Respiratory system. The respiratory system supplies oxygen to cells and removes carbon dioxide waste from the body.
Your Cardiovascular system. The heart and blood vessels comprise the two elements of the cardiovascular system that work together in providing nourishment and oxygen to the organs of the body.
Your Endocrine system. When you are feeling stressed out this results in an increase in the production of steroid hormones called glucocorticoids, which include cortisol, often referred to as the “stress hormone”.
Your Gastrointestinal system. Stress can affect this brain-gut communication, and may trigger pain, bloating and other gut discomfort to be felt more easily.
Your Nervous system. When the body is stressed, it responds to what is known as the "fight or flight" response. The body signals the adrenal glands to release hormones called adrenalin (epinephrine) and cortisol. These hormones, together with direct actions of autonomic nerves, cause the heart to beat faster , respiration rate to increase, blood vessels in the arms and legs to dilate, the digestive process to change and glucose levels (sugar energy) in the bloodstream to increase to deal with the bodies stress.
Who wants this? I sure do not!
So what do you do to overcome your stress, laugh and be happy? I thought you would never ask!
